For patient convenience we offer direct billing to most insurance companies, however, this process can be very time consuming and cause patient delays at the front desk. In an effort to reduce patient wait times we will be processing insurance claims at the end of day and encourage patients to provide credit card information on file so that patient portions not covered by insurance can be processed then as well. Our system has integrated secure storage for credit information but please feel free to discuss concerns with Marita or Lindsey at the front desk.

What to expect at your first physiotherapy appointment:

Your first visit to PRIME involves a comprehensive assessment by one of our registered physiotherapists.

The physiotherapist will take a thorough history from you including questions about the nature of the injury, your medical history and your goals for treatment. Next is a physical assessment. Depending on the area of injury, this involves looking at your range of motion, strength, joint mechanics, gait and movement patterns. The physiotherapist will provide education about and treatment for your specific injury. Treatment may include manual therapy, the use of therapeutic modalities (such as heat or electrical stimulation) and exercises for you to do at home. The physiotherapist or one of our kinesiologists will teach you how to do these exercises and will email you a link with pictures and instructions.

For your first physiotherapy session please bring appropriate clothing that will expose the area of injury (ie: shorts for a knee injury, tank top for a shoulder injury). PRIME will provide shorts if you are unable to bring your own. Please also make sure you have completed the online intake form that is emailed to you when booking your appointment, as this provides us with essential information including your current list of medications, medical history, and current injury complaint. If you prefer to complete the intake form on paper, please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment to do so. Please be sure to also bring your BC Health Care number and private insurance information, as we offer direct billing for most providers, and can check your insurance coverage during your appointment. Please feel free to call or email us if you have any further questions. We look forward to meeting you soon!
